John V. Healy served in the Montana Legislative Assembly in 1943, 1945, 1957, and 1959. Collection consists primarily of miscellaneous materials he collected while in the legislature. (SC 2498) Collection consists primarily of miscellaneous materials he collected while in the legislature. Included are seating charts, a prayer by Rev. Paul E. Caskey, satirical poems, minutes of a "mock" session of the legislature, 1959, lists of legislators with religious, occupational, and fraternal assiliations, and caricatures of 1945 legislators by Jim Haughey.

John V. Healy was born in Butte, Montana, on September 2, 1917, the son of Cornelius and Margaret (O'Sullivan) Healy. He attended Butte High School, but had to drop out to support his younger sisters after both his parents died. About 1933 he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and then returned to Butte to work as a miner. He was elected to the Montana Legislative Assembly in 1942, 1944, 1956, and 1958.
